Region IV members:

At the annual regional business meeting on November 10, 2005, there will be
a vote on changes to the regional bylaws. These changes are being made for
a number of reasons:

First, the regional leadership needs to align the operations of the region
with the national structure. Because of the restructuring at the national
level, it has been necessary to make changes at the regional level.
Secondly, changes are proposed to the bylaws to update them in accordance
to current operations (for example, Region IV follows the national
organization, operating on a calendar year cycle, rather than beginning the
year at the national conference). Changes have been made to reflect
changes in the operation of the region. Lastly, the bylaws reflect changes
in the way that the Region communicates; for example, regional
communications are now made through email and the website, and the new
procedures should reflect the fact that there is no longer a regional
newsletter.

We hope that these changes will allow for more efficient operation of NAFSA
Region IV and encourage active participation of Region IV members.
